The Big Eight
A short-lived oligopoly that controlled drug trafficking on the Western Seaboard, the Big Eight was the brainchild of the Italian Mafia. The group had its own planes, ships and trucks. They set up offshore loading bases in the Mexican Riviera and had an extensive radio communications network. The Big Eight controls every aspect of the drug trade, from the price of illegal substances to the bottles that would be used. Happy Valachi is the nominal head of the group.
The Russian Mafia is the deadliest underground organization in Los Santos. They already own Russia and are armed by the Red army itself. After the fall of the Soviet Union, they established strongholds in Western and Eastern Europe, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, and have established links with South American drug cartels. They are doing business in weapons, drugs, prostitution, money laundering, and anything that makes a dollar.

A high-powered criminal organization operating out of Los Santos’ Chinatown, the Red Dragon Triad Society started as a merchants’ association whose primary purpose was looking after the interests of the large population of Chinese immigrants. These days the Society is more concerned with money and competition from other criminal organizations.

History: He came on after the “Mustache Pete Wars." Early disagreements with some of Genghis’ decisions permanently put him on Popcorn’s “doo-doo list." Sam has always had beef with Popcorn.

History: The hideously scarred son of mafia don Big Anthony Gandolphini, Skull Face currently heads the Cosa Nostra in Los Santos. Anthony attempted to prove his worth to his father by offing a rival don, Luigi Bartoromo. Black Tiger saved Bartoromo, but in the process, Anthony’s face was badly burned by acid, making his face look like a skull. Subsequent to the incident that disfigured him, Skull Face became obsessed with the Black Tiger. He learned through Chinese lore of the Black Tiger’s origin and developed a respect for his adversary. Though a shrewd businessman, Skull Face has a soft spot in his heart for his family and Ogre, whom he considers a fellow outcast due to his appearance.

History: Junior grew up in the mafia, his father serving under Big Anthony Gandolphini. Like his father, Junior’s appetites are his weakness, having a penchant for too much pasta, too much wine, and too many women. He has undying loyalty to Skull Face as his father was to Skull Face’s father.

History: Michael is the son of Skull Face’s sister, Monica. Though Monica is taken care of by the family business now as she was when her father was alive, she has aspirations of Michael becoming head of the family. Michael has the will, but not the ability to achieve such a goal, as is readily apparent to all but his mother. It is at her continual requests that Skull Face keeps Michael at his right hand, but if left to his discretion, he would relegate Michael to grunt work that would require little thinking and keep him out of harm’s way.

History: Mario is a longtime member of the family and a made man. He came up under Big Anthony Gandolphini and has been a boon to Skull Face both as an advisor and as a gunman.

History: While a young man, Stephan joined the Gandolphini family after his parents became innocent casualties of a hit orchestrated by Luigi Bartoromo. Since then he has come to realize that this is not the best way, but he knows there is no leaving the family. Stephan is devoutly Catholic and spends an hour a day in confession.
