The Black Tiger’s
Gift
The Black Tiger’s Gift contains strengths and abilities possessed
by the ancient masters of martial arts. The extent to which the wielder
of the Gift can tap the powers depends on multiple factors, including discipline,
natural abilities, and disposition towards wielding the powers. The Gift
was original used by ascetic monks in old China for combating evil. The
monks’ traditional values were challenged by Ying Chi Fong who, when
forced to choose between his true love and his responsibilities, chose both
– an action not without consequences.

History: In China, while pregnant with him, his mother received
a vision from her ancestors saying the strength and goodness of his spirit
will have no bounds, thus she named him Ying Chi, Inner Spirit. At a young
age he was the best martial artist in all of China. He was recruited by
Xiaolin Monks to join their ranks and eventually take on the mantle of the
legendary Black Tiger. While believing in his fight for justice, he did
not agree with all of the tenets of the monastery. Eventually, he broke
his vow of celibacy, secretly married his true love, Cho Yi. He continued
his duties at the monastery until Cho Yi became pregnant. Fearing for the
lives of his family, due to a prophecy, Ying Chi and Cho Yi fled China for
the United States. Ying Chi continued to fight for justice as the Black
Tiger in the United States. Eventually he bequeathed the Gift to his son,
Pacific, shortly after which Cho Yi was murdered. Ying Chi suffered a mental
breakdown and was institutionalized.

History: Pac, named after the Pacific Ocean, was born on
a boat between Hawaii and California as his parents were immigrating to
the United States. Knowing at a young age that his father was the Black
Tiger, Pac looked forward to receiving the Black Tiger’s Gift when
he grew up. Pac trained hard and even shared some adventures with his father
at a young age. Evel Carrigan, Sr., had a strong influence on Pac when he
was young, and after his death, Pac looked up to Evel, Jr., Following in
the footsteps of both Evels, Pac joined the Los Santos Police Department,
where he was partnered with Evel Carrigan, Jr., and soon after received
the Black Tiger’s Gift. Pac married and had a daughter, Jennifer.
Three years later his wife died giving birth to their second child, Eric.
Pac was tough on Eric while raising him, trying to prepare him to be the
next Black Tiger, but was continually frustrated by his rebellion. Recently,
Aside from his appointment as Captain of the Metahuman Activities Division,
Pac started a police task force to bring down the Red Dragon Triad Society,
wanting to protect Eric, who had become heavily involved. Pac was murdered

History: The son of Pac, Eric’s mother died giving
birth to him, and he has always harbored feelings of guilt for her death.
As a youth, he rebelled against his father’s authority. His father
was not only a cop but was the Black Tiger with expectations of Eric following
in his footsteps. The fact that his older sister, Jenn, was a straight A
student only added fuel to the fire. Eric barely finished high school after
which he mulled around without direction. He then joined the Red Dragon
Triad Society. After working for the Triad a couple of years he gained favor,
until the leader of the Red Dragon Triad Society, Genghis, learned that
Eric’s father was the cop leading a newly developed task force against
the Triad. Genghis was about to kill Eric when Eric’s father, the
Black Tiger, was killed and Eric instantaneously received the Black Tiger’s
Gift. Eric used the power to kill Genghis and become the Triad leader. Despite
not getting along with his father, Eric was deeply hurt by Pac’s murder
and focused his life on vengeance as the Black Tiger’s Gift corrupts
his soul. Now Eric has initiated all-out war against Skull Face, the man
he holds responsible for his father’s murder.

History: Jenn is a lawyer, whose interest in law was spawned
by her desire to stay in good graces with her father, a law officer who,
in her mind, always seemed to favor her brother, Eric. Although very Americanized,
she holds more of the old cultural values than her brother and has always
felt slighted that her father pushed Eric to excel instead of her while
growing up. In an attempt to escape the constraints of tradition in her
life, Jenn finds herself in relationships with men that fit the bill of
the “red blooded American man,” as represented by the media.
She gets what she is initially looking for in these relationships, but not
what she really needs. Moreover, she is not in a place in her life to truthfully
examine what she really needs, leaving her personal life a mess. Aside from
being book smart, Jenn has a very deductive mind, thinks well on her feet,
and is a natural-born detective. Initially, she was unaware of the Black
Tiger’s Gift or its link to her family, but with her father’s
shrouded murder she begins digging and quickly begins to learn the truth.
Jenn races against the clock to piece together the puzzle of the Black Tiger’s
Gift and her family in order to save both, and the only living person she
can trust is her institutionalized grandfather, Ying Chi.
